Brooches

“Waste Not, Want Not” is a practice I feel a connection to. Raised By New Englanders, I was taught to use every last scrap of food, materials, old blankets – whatever it be, this practice was instilled in me long before I was old enough to realize what an impact reducing, reusing and recycling would have on me and the way I felt I wanted to live my life. When I make my mosaic glass goblet tops and then smash them to find the jewelry within, every last piece is used to conserve resources. The multi-chip glass brooch pins and barrettes were born from this practice, and have become perennially popular selling lines. The scrap chips are hand cut into geometric shapes and then flame polished before being glued onto nickel-plated steel pin backs.
